overview for loadedpotatoes

jump to contentmy subredditswhat's this?TROPHY CASE

New User

I not sure if this is exactly what OP is looking for, but I do have a somewhat relevant story about settling for an SO and some lessons I learned as a result:

My only serious relationship lasted about 1 1/2 years with a guy I met in highschool band. We got to know each other through messaging and texting, and I fell in love with how deep our conversations were and how funny he seemed. He wasn the cutest guy, but the attention made me feel special and cared for.

I graduated and went off to college an hour and a half away, but he was still in highschool. Over the next few months, the things I initially fell in love with faded away and I was left with the annoyances I once overlooked. He stopped communicating and became invested in nothing else but playing his instrument. Although he said I was the priority in his life, moncler sito ufficiale italia, he would drop off the grid for hours and not respond to anything I said. I asked him to let me know when he be busy, and even summoned the courage to tell him that it made me feel shitty that he ignored me, but his behavior didn change. It kept getting worse over time. When I did mention it, he turned the conversation around to how he wasn "good enough" and how his life was so hard. I had to reassure him, even though I was the one originally in distress. I realize now that was a manipulative tactic. Still, I felt like I should get over myself and drop conflicts, woolrich outlet Homemade Cat , little or significant, to maintain peace.

The distance of college life helped lift the fog of that giddy feeling of being around someone you like, and I started questioning our relationship. He wanted to stay in state to become a band director, but I hate this place and want to travel. He had our entire life together planned out, down to the instruments our kids would play, but I wanted to know what else was out there. I don even know if I want kids! When I joked with him how grossed out by pregnancy I am, he dismissed my feelings. He would guilt me into ignoring my discomfort about having children. He would even guilt me out of silly things, like wearing shoes that had heels or thick soles, so that I wouldn be taller than him.

Despite everything, I felt that I owed it to him to try to make it work. He was the only guy that ever loved me or wanted to be with me. We had a lot of fun, good memories from the earlier months that I clung to. But once the superficial charm faded away, I was left with the reality that I had settled for an empty shell of a relationship that was going somewhere I didn want to go. He was sweet, but we had few common interests. He hated my music, he was obsessed with anything band related, and we couldn hold a conversation about anything other than his own taste in music, or some video game I didn care about.

In my first realization of self worth, I decided to end the relationship. I had convinced myself for years that I wasn going to find anyone to deal with my depression and anxiety. I was afraid to let go of someone that would. I didn even think I was attractive enough to find someone else who would approach me. I latched on out of fear of being alone. And I was scared that I was wrong to end it, that I was selfish for wanting someone I could relate to as I grew as a person. But a year later,How Fast Does Thyroid Cancer Grow, I glad I didn settle for him.

I still haven found someone who has reciprocated interest, and my self esteem is still shit, but I realize now that although compromise is necessary, it shouldn leave me feeling hollow. I a fierce believer in the pursuit of happiness. If compromise or "settling" makes you happy, that perfectly okay. But if you left wanting or wondering what else is out there, it not fair to either party to stay in the relationship.

If this attitude leaves me single through my 20s and into my 30s, at least I have the comfort of knowing that I didn sacrifice my own autonomy and happiness for empty mediocrity. I too young for that shit. I not necessarily waiting for the "right one," I hoping to find someone that I happy changing my expectations of life for. Someone I can be best friends with even when the puppy love fades, someone who respects my feelings. That all.

So, TL;DR: I settled for my SO and his flaws at first, but time and distance helped me realize that I deserved better than to sacrifice my happiness and my dreams for the future for someone I was having doubts about. I don regret my decision to leave.
parajumpers
moncler outlet
doudoune canada goose femme
doudoune moncler
peuterey sito ufficiale
doudoune canada goose site officiel
woolrich outlet
burberry outlet online italia
hogan outlet milano
moncler outlet roma
chaussure louboutin pas cher
woolrich outlet online
moncler outlet online
moncler soldes
moncler outlet italia
