Berkeley Prep wins 14th state title
LAKELAND The Berkeley Prep volleyball team has been to the state tournament many times before, but the Buccaneers came to the Lakeland Center this year with a new look: baggy blue tank tops with a pink No. 14 on the front.
That number had been the Buccaneers focus since before their first practice this season, since they ended last season here with the 3A state title.
might have been some people who thought we were boasting by putting a big No. 14 on our shirts, longtime Berkeley coach Randy Dagostino said. just felt it was a constant reminder.

The Buccaneers (30 2), who hadn lost to an in state opponent this season, were tested in Lakeland. Berkeley took the lead on junior Jordan Burgess ace and then a back row kill from Burgess, then took the match final two points on Eagles attack errors to seal the championship.

Burgess added 16 digs and five total blocks and senior libero Natasha Rowland had a team high 22 digs.
The Bucs, who ended the season as the No. 1 ranked team in Florida by MaxPreps, spent the entire season with a target on their back. For part of the season Berkeley was the top ranked team in the nation.

Berkeley Prep and coach Asics Outlet Randy Dagostino won their 14th state volleyball title Thursday. It the second most by one coach in the state, trailing only Fort Lauderdale Cardinal Gibbons coach Louise Crocco 18.
