<p style="padding-bottom: 0px; widows: 1; text-transform: none; background-color: rgb(255,255,255); text-indent: 0px; margin: 12px 0px; padding-left: 0px; letter-spacing: normal; padding-right: 0px; font: 12px Roboto, sans-serif; white-space: normal; color: rgb(0,0,0); word-spacing: 0px; padding-top: 0px; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px">You've probably seen Segways before used for recreation and tours, but the police think there are many practical uses for them. They work great for parades for one, but can also be used in every day police work. </p>
<p style="padding-bottom: 0px; widows: 1; text-transform: none; background-color: rgb(255,255,255); text-indent: 0px; margin: 12px 0px; padding-left: 0px; letter-spacing: normal; padding-right: 0px; font: 12px Roboto, sans-serif; white-space: normal; color: rgb(0,0,0); word-spacing: 0px; padding-top: 0px; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px">La Crosse Police Officer Rick Pfennig can cheap smart balancing wheel see many uses for Segways. For instance, they give them an advantage in crowds like at Oktoberfest and Riverfest. "Just gives you a little self balancing scooter bit of height, to get up. You can kind of see over the crowd."</p>
<p style="padding-bottom: 0px; widows: 1; text-transform: none; background-color: rgb(255,255,255); text-indent: 0px; margin: 12px 0px; padding-left: 0px; letter-spacing: normal; padding-right: 0px; font: 12px Roboto, sans-serif; white-space: normal; color: rgb(0,0,0); word-spacing: 0px; padding-top: 0px; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px">The technology is new, so the department doesn't know its limitations yet, but everyday use is certainly within its capabilities. "The civil service employees that meter the parking ramps have used them down there, and you know, you can get around the gates and stuff; it saves time. You can use them downtown for parking enforcement which you're not blocking traffic."  </p>
<p style="padding-bottom: 0px; widows: 1; text-transform: none; background-color: rgb(255,255,255); text-indent: 0px; margin: 12px 0px; padding-left: 0px; letter-spacing: normal; padding-right: 0px; font: 12px Roboto, sans-serif; white-space: normal; color: rgb(0,0,0); word-spacing: 0px; padding-top: 0px; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px">These things are fast. There could be a situation where the police are interviewing a suspect, and that suspect decides to flee. Its top speed is twelve miles per hour, which is more than capable of closing the gap. The officer can leave the Segway and it will slowly set itself down safely.</p>
<p style="padding-bottom: 0px; widows: 1; text-transform: none; background-color: rgb(255,255,255); text-indent: 0px; margin: 12px 0px; padding-left: 0px; letter-spacing: normal; padding-right: 0px; font: 12px Roboto, sans-serif; white-space: normal; color: rgb(0,0,0); word-spacing: 0px; padding-top: 0px; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px">They are able to go just about anywhere. Officer Pfennig said, "If somebody's down on the golf course, you have to get out there, I mean, self balance scooter we can utilize them for that. There's bike trails where the cars can't get to, and we have a lot of them." </p>
    <p style="padding-bottom: 0px; widows: 1; text-transform: none; background-color: rgb(255,255,255); text-indent: 0px; margin: 12px 0px; padding-left: 0px; letter-spacing: normal; padding-right: 0px; font: 12px Roboto, sans-serif; white-space: normal; color: rgb(0,0,0); word-spacing: 0px; padding-top: 0px; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px">They are easily loaded into a patrol car, and once on scene, can travel over almost any terrain.  </p>
<p style="padding-bottom: 0px; widows: 1; text-transform: none; background-color: rgb(255,255,255); text-indent: 0px; margin: 12px 0px; padding-left: 0px; letter-spacing: normal; padding-right: 0px; font: 12px Roboto, sans-serif; white-space: normal; color: rgb(0,0,0); word-spacing: 0px; padding-top: 0px; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px">On city streets, they can navigate to an accident to direct traffic. On the streets, Officer Pfennig says they need to follow all the rules of the road just like cars and bikes do, and they need to use hand signals to make turns or change lanes. They do have flashing lights and are legally a marked police vehicle, and a tool that La Crosse Police can adapt to use in almost any situation that may arise.</p>
    <p style="padding-bottom: 0px; widows: 1; text-transform: none; background-color: rgb(255,255,255); text-indent: 0px; margin: 12px 0px; padding-left: 0px; letter-spacing: normal; padding-right: 0px; font: 12px Roboto, sans-serif; white-space: normal; color: rgb(0,0,0); word-spacing: 0px; padding-top: 0px; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px">The Segway's battery can last up to 7 hours, but can easily be charged anywhere there's an outlet.</p>
    <p style="padding-bottom: 0px; widows: 1; text-transform: none; background-color: rgb(255,255,255); text-indent: 0px; margin: 12px 0px; padding-left: 0px; letter-spacing: normal; padding-right: 0px; font: 12px Roboto, sans-serif; white-space: normal; color: rgb(0,0,0); word-spacing: 0px; padding-top: 0px; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px">Each officer must complete a training course before they can use a Segway, but more are completing that every week.</p>recommend :
