(February 2007)<br><br>From the 17th century through to the 19th century, the Habsburg Monarchy, Austrian Empire, and Austro Hungarian Empire attempted to profit from colonial trade and to establish their own colonies abroad.<br><br>Due to pressures by the other European colonial powers and a monarchy that could not afford full support, all attempts eventually failed.
