"She has lost the confidence of myself and caucus that's why I have come to the regretful deicison to remove Chirs Melnick from the government caucus," said Selinger.
The Premier made the announcement following a meeting of his caucus Tuesday morning but would not say if that decision was unanimous.
Last year Manitoba's Ombudsman concluded Melnick mislead the Legislature by directing civil servants to invite immigrants to a debate at the Legislature in 2012.
The Ombudsman said this gave the perception of partisanship and critics accused the Province of politicizing the civil service.
According to Selinger Melnick acted alone.

Melnick admits she gave the order to invite the agencies but insists she was told to do so by the Premier's staff.
"I worked with senior staff the whole way through this whole issue and that I felt was important to say," she said.
Melnick also claims Selinger's staff told her not to talk publicly.
In response to the differentiating claims, the Conservatives are calling for an all party committee with subpoena powers to compel people to testify.
"This is the best way to get to the bottom of seeing how deep and how wide this crisis of intergrity goes within the UGGS On Sale NDP government," said deputy PC leader Heather Stefanson.
The Premier dropped Melnick from cabinet during a shuffle last year.
