The two combined fortheir second winof the summer on Sunday. This time they survived the brutal wet, windy and chilly conditions at the Hillsdale Golf and Country Club for a one shot victory over Lincicome's fellow American Solheim Cup teammates, Michelle Wie and Stacy Lewis. Eathorne, 35, played on the LPGA Tour for 10 seasons and won more than $1 million US. But she stopped competing two years ago. She was working as a temporary secretary at private club near Phoenix when she received a call from pro Kris Blanks. He wanted to know if Eathorne had any interest carrying his golf bag for the PGA Tour qualifying school in December 2009.
Blanks had met Eathorne while she caddied for Hockey Hall of Fame goalie Grant Fuhr in a Nationwide Tour event earlier that summer. standout junior golfer Tami Dougan, whom Eathorne knew.
A partnership is bornBlanks won his tour card and he kept Eathorne as his caddy for the 2010 season. The two, however, departed ways four months ago after he began to struggle. Eathorne put out word on her Facebook Pandora Black Pave Star Charm page that she was looking for another caddying job, and two days later, Lincicome hired her via a text message.
"Our first week together was the match play event," Lincicome said. "The next week was Atlantic City, where we won. We had two weeks off before Portland last week and I told her jokingly that I was going to fire her and rehire her back for Portland.
"Technically, Portland was our first week back together, and this week, the second week, we won. So we'll just have to keep firing her and rehiring her.
The 25 year old Lincicome has been considered a talent for some time now, but her temper held her back. As a result, she has been working with a sports psychologist to keep things light on the course.
Eathorne has been the perfect fit not only for her knowledge as a tour player, but she is personable and has the ability to chat up Lincicome to keep here loose. Lincicome also revealed that another of her tricks to stay calm is to sing. And she was singing in the rain on Sunday on her march to victory. Pandora Necklaces Mostly country tunes, she said.
If Lincicome and Eathorne continue to make music together, don't expect the latter to return to competitive golf anytime soon.
"I like my credential that still says I'm a player because I can get into a little more places," joked Eathorne, who will be on Lincicome's bag for the Solheim Cup in Ireland next month. "I would never say I'm retired or anything like that, but obviously this is a pretty good job right now."
'Tested my patience'Another tactic Lincicome employs to keep her focus has been to avoid looking at the leaderboard. At times in the final round, Lincicome used her umbrella to shield her from looking at the scoreboard.
