"In Iran, respect and modesty are big, and I thought it would be so immodest of me to give myself an A, so I gave myself a lower grade, thinking he would adjust it. Well, I think it is the only B I got in college," says Tabrizian, chuckling as she remembers confronting her professor about the grade. "He said, 'If you don't believe you should get an A, why should I?'"<br><br>That lesson highlights one of the main cultural differences between Tabrizian's native country and her adopted homeland. But she's noticed another cultural difference: In America, we tend to revere our youth and disregard our senior citizens, a social paradigm that leads to isolation and depression in seniors.<br><br>Under one roof: In addition to her husband and two sons,Beats by Dre outlet, Tabrizian's family included her fatherinlaw until his death in 2003. Her mother lives with the family now. When her fatherinlaw came to live with her family in 1989, "we wanted him, we were hoping for him," she says. "He was such a great addition to the family. My children still talk about him all the time." And her mother, who is a poet, helps Tabrizian balance a hectic work and family schedule.<br><br>"Out of sight, out of heart": Tabrizian has a favorite saying that is a lot like one of ours but fundamentally different. Rather than "out of sight, out of mind," Iranians say,dr dre beats, "Out of sight, out of heart." And, Tabrizian believes, that's just what's happening to our seniors.
